Program Description

It is becoming common place to read about data breaches and the theft of millions of users’ data from supposedly secure databases. Businesses and governments around the world often spend millions of dollars developing secure websites to interact with their clients, or the public at large. Yet it is not uncommon to hear about the rogue computer programmer who is able to compromise the security of their site in their spare time. With the growing prominence of online personal data, this trend is a cause for concern.

This program introduces students with a working understanding of computer programming to core principles in computer security. By considering key vulnerabilities in software and hardware systems, we explore various methods for safeguarding against hackers.

Students explore topics in encryption, memory management, penetration testing, and more to develop best practices in software and web development. This program is an enticing way for developing coders to learn about advanced concepts and techniques in programming. An emphasis is placed on the engineering design cycle as a means of designing and developing solutions to real world problems.

This course is intended for the novice programmer with intermediate coding experience.. It is a great way to discover the foundations of Computer Security. As with any Braincubator program, an emphasis is placed on the engineering design cycle as a means of designing and developing solutions to real world problems in a hands on manner.
